Bandai Namco has released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming One Piece Odyssey JRPG. The new video takes place in Water Seven, which received a trailer earlier this month.
The first half of the video mainly focuses on peaceful exploration, with the Straw Hats venturing through the scenic streets of Memoria’s (the World of Memories) rendition of Water Seven. The characters also pay a visit to the Galley-La Company and traverse Water Seven’s canals with Yagara bulls.
Halfway through, the Straw Hats are briefly seen tackling a Memory Link Quest, where specific characters team up to “resolve the frayed edges of ‘Memoria’ known as ‘Hysteria’, a fractured world deeper within ‘Memoria.’” The second half of the video shows off a dungeon set beneath Water Seven and more of the game’s turn-based combat before giving a sneak peek of Enies Lobby, which players will be able to visit after their adventures in Water Seven.
One Piece Odyssey is set to launch on January 13, 2023 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. The ILCA, Inc.-developed game is meant to commemorate One Piece‘s 25th anniversary and features the “direct” involvement of One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda in the creation of the main story, new characters, and monsters.
Bandai Namco describes the game as:
The Thousand Sunny in tatters… crew members scattered… and Luffy has lost his straw hat!
During their voyage along the Grand Line, Captain Monkey.D.Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew are caught in a sudden storm at sea. When the storm subsides, they find themselves stranded on a lush, but mysterious island called Waford, becoming separated from each other in the process. The crew sets out on a new, daring adventure filled with marvels of nature, powerful enemies, and strange encounters with island locals.
